At the Palais de Tokyo from November 6th to November 8th, it is now located from November 10th to November 12th at the Biblioteque Nationale de France. "The concept of the project is to give everyone the opportunity to share their portrait and a statement of what they stand for, with the world. The Inside Out Project provides individuals and groups from all corners of the globe with a vehicle to make a statement. Anyone can participate, and is challenged to use photographic portraits to share the untold stories and images of people in their communities." ©JR Inside Out Project NYC/TImes Square ©JR Inside Out Project NYC/TImes Square A documentary on the Inside Out Project shot by Alastair Siddons will be shown at the MK2 cinema. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TE4x6zpoHw4 We have been following JR for a while now and we really love the projects that he works on. For instance, "Women are Heroes". To pay tribute to women who play an essential role in society but who are the primary victims of war, crime, rape and political or religious fanaticism, JR pasted huge photos of the faces and eyes of local women in Brazil's favelas, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Sudan. ©JR In the Favela Morro da Providência, Rio de Janeiro, Brésil, 2008 ©JR In the Favela Morro da Providência, Rio de Janeiro, Brésil, 2008 Also in May 2012, JR collaborated with Cuban-American artist José Parlá on The Wrinkles of the City project. They made mural installations in Havana, for the Biennale. JR and Jose Parlá photographed and recorded 25 senior citizens who had lived through the Cuban revolution, creating portraits interlaced with palimpsestic calligraphic writings and paintings. ©JR La Havana, Alicia Adela Hernandez Fernández, Cuba, 2012 ©JR La Havana, Alicia Adela Hernandez Fernández, Cuba, 2012 So if you have time, participate in this unique project and get you portrait taken!
