The 40th edition of the FIAC (Foire International d'Art Contemporain or International contemporary art fair) will take place as usual at the Grand Palais from October 24th to 27th. The FIAC 2013 will bring together 184 art galeries from 25 countries showcasing the best in contemporary art with over 3177 artists. The FIAC is also extending itself to the Tuileries Gardens, the Louvre, the Jardin de Plantes, the Museum national d’Histoire naturelle, the Place Vendôme and for the first time along the Seine (left bank). The "HORS LES MURS" (outside the walls) program is as follows. Please note that students from the Ecole du Louvre will be in all those venues every day between 3pm to 5:30pm to present the artworks to the general public (making it even more interesting for us) - Along the Petit Palais will stand the majestic art work of Jean Dubuffet: "Welcome Parade", presented by the collaboration of the Pace Gallery (New York) and Waddington-Custot (Londres). - Jardin des Tuileries For the 8th year in a row, the FIAC, in association with the Louvre museum, will present about 20 projects combining installations, sculptures, performances, or sound art installations in the Tuileries Gardens. You can check this year's installations here. - Jardin des Plantes and Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle The chosen theme is nature, biodiversity and the environment. The works will be shown indoors and outdoors. The artists taking part of this can be seen here - Place Vendôme The tree hut project by Tadashi Kawamata (don't forget to look up on the Vendome column if you pass by, we have already seen parts of it being set up) - Berges de Seine rive Gauche (left river bank) For the first time, an outdoor circuit along the Seine will be offered between the Tuileries Gardens, the Solferino bridge, the Concorde bridge, the Alexandre III bridge, and the Grand Palais. Here is a map so you have a better idea of where things are located. Our hotels are located half way in between the Jardin des Tuileries and the Jardin des Plantes. Fiac 3 Enjoy!
