LA Dance Project-Benjamin Millepied-Theatre du Chatelet

French famed dancer and choreographer Banjamin Millepied joined the New York City dance ballet in 1995 and became its principal dancer in 2005. He is known by many as the choreographer of the blockbuster movie Black Swan starring Natalie Portman. In September 2014, at only 34 years old, Millepied will become the new director of the Opera de Paris Millepied created his own dance company "the LA Dance project" two years ago. "It is an artist collective, looking to present dance in all its forms. Benjamin Millepied has surrounded himself with artists from a broad range of origins, from the audiovisual world to the plastic arts, so as to bring dance outside its standard frontiers, and to redefine the very notion of artistic collaboration." Only four representations will take place at the Theatre du Chatelet with four different ballets, two of them his own creations. On the program: Winterbranch (1964) choreographed by Merce Cunningham, Reflections and Moving Parts choreographed by Benjamin Millepied (costumes by Rodarte for Moving Parts), and Quintett choreographed by William Forsythe.
