Chou à la créme - Bit size treat
There was two big food trends in Paris this year in the pastry department: le choux (cream filled puff pastry) and l'eclair. Since two of the top three cream filled puff pastry shops are close to our hotels, we thought it would be a good idea to introduce them to you. The third one is located in the Marais, which is one of the essential neighborhoods to visit when you come to Paris.
POPELINI
Located in the Marais, Popelini was the first shop to open, start this trend, and give glory back to this old french pastry. You will find nine different flavors (coffee, vanilla, rose, lemon, praline, caramel, pistachio, dark chocolate, milk chocolate) and the flavor of the day.

ODETTE
Very similar to Popelini is Odette, which is located five minutes from the hotel and right next to Notre Dame. Fred, the owner, named the store after his grandmother, Odette, who used to prepare him those "chou" when he was a kid. You will find nine different flavors (chocolate, caramel, pistachio, coffee, fruits des bois, green tea, praline, lemon, vanilla) and the flavor of the day. The store is tiny, but you have a small space on the first floor where you can devour those puff pastry.

77, rue Galande 75005 Paris
Open everyday from 10:30am to 7:30pm
LA MAISON DU CHOU
The store is located in one of our favorite "place" in Paris: place de Furstenberg. The two Michelin star chef, Manuel Martinez, is "meilleur ouvrier de France". Very high in quality and freshness, the puff pastries are actually filled to order in front of you. There is only three flavors: classic (our favorite), chocolate, and coffee. The cream is unusually light, slightly sweet, and very fresh. As in Odette, a few tables provide a place to sip coffee and tea.

La Maison du Chou
7, place de Furstenberg 75006 Paris
Everyday except Mondays
Our favorite remains la Maison du Chou, but unlike the other two there is no frosting on their puffs. If you pass by any of these stores, don't hesitate to go in, and try one. Let us know your thoughts!
